Greetings! My poor, neglected blog. I've taken a little break this spring. And we are expecting another little one (#4) this fall! So I've been busy (tired), but I'm feeling much better now and wanted to introduce something new to my shop.
I am now offering printable photographic art. You may purchase the 11x14" high res jpeg file (which is available immediately after purchase), and use it all you would like for personal use. Just a few ideas would be a piece of wall art, invitations, card making, shirts, pillows, coasters, mouse pad, tea towel - you name it. As long as you are using it for personal use, you are free to print as you wish. You can even print it for yourself, and gift a print. I do retain all copyright, and I do ask that you do not use this for retail, wholesale, or alter the image.
Something you may be wondering is where can I get professional printed photographs as a "regular" consumer? I highly, highly recommend using www.mpix.com. They print several of the items I mentioned above, and more, for an extremely reasonable cost and very high, professional grade quality. Their photographs, for instance, have the option of a lustre finish. This is the same finish I have done at the professional lab I print at if you were to order the print for me. Also, it's easy to create an account. You don't need to be a professional, and their website is easy to navigate.
Why offer a digital file? Because I think the flexibility it offers the consumer is great. I also believe that it creates less waste. Often I send the digital file to the printer, they mail it to me, and I mail it to you. This way we are saving fuel, and delivery costs.
So please do have a look at my new printable photographs in my shop. I will be continuing to add, so check back often. If you know of a photograph that you would like as a digital download, simply send me a message and I will create a listing for you.

Irish Soda Bread {A Recipe!}
My family really enjoyed this rustic and casual bread. It is a great snack bread, or toasted for breakfast (with pastured butter and raw honey). I like mine in the afternoon with my tea. Adapted from a recipe here by Ina Garten, I changed it a bit as you can see from the replacement of the refined sugar with honey, and also sprouted whole wheat flour, and a few more minor adjustments. As for all the recipes I share, I do encourage organic ingredients, but for this one I definitely recommend it for the orange zest.
INGREDIENTS:
4 cups sprouted whole wheat flour + 1T for raisins
4 tablespoons raw honey
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons Real salt, or a Himalayan salt
4 tablespoons (from grass fed cows) cold butter, diced
2 cups buttermilk, or plain kefir for a milder flavor
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
1 cup dried raisins
Optional butter for brushing loaf
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees, and line a cookie sheet with unbleached parchment paper.
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees, and line a cookie sheet with unbleached parchment paper.
In a standing mixer with paddle attachment, combine buttermilk (or plain kefir), honey, egg, and zest. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add the butter and mix in well, I like to roughly cut it in with a fork.
Next, carefully add the flour and butter mix to the wet ingredients, on low speed with the paddle attachment. When well combined, your dough should be somewhat wet, yet able to knead.
Toss the raisins with 1T flour to lightly coat; add them to the dough batter and combine well.
When everthing has come together, dump the dough out on a floured surface and knead it into a round loaf. Place the loaf on the parchment paper lined cookie sheet, and slice an 'x' onto the loaf with a very sharp knife. Bake 45-55 minutes, and then cool on a rack.
I also brushed some butter on half-way during baking, and then again when it came out of the oven.
Another option would be to use whole wheat flour (I mill my own), and soak it with the buttermilk for 12-24 hours, then add the remaining ingredients. This way, your grains are "predigested" and the nutrients will be easier to assimilate. Sometimes I soak, and sometimes I use sprouted wheat as they have the same effect. When I make my sourdough bread as we eat no other kind, I use freshly milled red spring wheat because we enjoy the heartier flavor and texture.
